Report from the Chair:
Just a brief note to thank and congratulate each of you Brothers William Palattao, Alvin Velasco, Francis Ho, Oliver Kilayko, Omoefe Oputu, Mathew Rodrigues, Pepito D'Souza & Luis Gomes (and I sincerely mean it) on a job well done on Saturday at our Council's 7th Annual Golfing event held at the Hornby Glen Golf Course. Everything worked per our schedule though there was a slight delay for the dinner and even the weather cooperated with us when it seemed almost certain that we would be welcomed by a thunderstorm! And, yes, I drove to the East end of the city, to see my dear father and mother, late in the evening. All in all, I personally enjoyed the company of the participants, committee members, volunteers and the food!
I was so impressed with your hard work, dedication and enthusiasm that I felt almost redundant until the dinner event. This just goes to show that our fraternity was clearly evident not only yesterday but from the day we sat down for our first golfing meet at the Church premises.
Even our two volunteer brothers Joe Remedios and Joe Pereira performed admirably their tasks, doing the registration, collection of scorecards and ensuring that our brothers were provided water on a hot and humid day. Thanks brothers Joe R and Joe P for a job well done!
Bro. Luis Gomes thanks once again for training our Squires since late April with dedication and passion, thus enabling two of the Squires (Micah and Brandon) to participate for the first time in our annual golfing event. We look to doubling the numbers in 2009.
The winners of this year's event was the team headed by our WGK Valens Almeida and his foursome of Gareth D'Souza, Gus D'Souza and Frank Kehoe who will have their names on the plaque.
The winners of the other three competitions were as follows:
1. Putting Competition.........WGK Valens Almeida
2. Closest to the Pin.............Bro. Craig D'Souza
3. Longest Drive..................Bro. Gus D'Souza
All 41 participants including our 2 volunteers were provided with a prize.
Thanks to our brothers, advertisers and well wishers of our council who supported this annual event with gifts and cash.
Finally, sincere thanks once again to each one of you, including our two volunteers for a job well done. All the best to Bro. Willie, Chair for the 8th Annual Golf Tournament in 2009.
Fraternally,
Edwin
