Clergy Appreciation Night - 2006

The Knights of Columbus Councils in Mississauga held their "Clergy Appreciation Night" at Christ the King Parish on Jan 26, 2006. The Clergy were led into the Parish hall by an Honor Guard and received a standing ovation from all the brother Knights present. Thanks to the effort of our Chancellor Bro. Simon Mendes, St. Francis Xavier Council 12067 was well represented at the function.

Volunteers Needed for Church Campaign

Brothers,
Our Council will be actively supporting "The End of the Beginning" campaign to raise money to expand the church facilities as was outlined in various presentations last November. You have seen that the church is packed to standing room only for many of the weekend Masses and additional seating is a necessity. With the expanded hall, kitchens, and meeting rooms, our Council stands to benefit greatly from the expansion as well.
Volunteers are required to visit our fellow parishioners to ask them for their support. It will require a few hours of your time per week over the next few months and training will be provided to make it an easy and pleasant experience. A professional campaign manager, Mirella Radman, has been hired to organize the campaign and conduct the training in early February. The visits will start shortly thereafter. The fundraising goals are reasonable for our parish with 6,500 registered families and the more volunteers we get, the quicker we reach our target.
On behalf of our Pastor, Msgr. Terence D'Souza, I am asking you to help as a volunteer in the campaign. Please take some time to consider joining us in this important endeavour.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Bro. Marcel Lemmen
Grand Knight

Fantastic New Year's Eve Dance!

Brothers,
Last nights New Year's Eve Dance was a great success and was enjoyed by all! We hosted a little over 400 revellers and ushered in the New Year of 2006 inthe finest K of C style. The party didn't break up until a little after 2:30am and could easily have gone all night if we didn't finally "pull the plug".
Thanks to all of the many Brother Knights who helped organize, sell tickets, get sponsors, donate prizes, set up the hall, and run the various activities during the evening. It was truly a team effort and I'm very proud of how well we worked together. Special thanks go to Bro. Joseph Remedios, Dance Chairman for organizing the event and to his family who put in a tremendous amount of time and effort into the many details that made the night so special.
I wish all members of our council and their families a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
Fraternally,
Bro. Marcel Lemmen, GK
