Spiritual Pilgrimage With Pope Benedict XVI
Prayer composed by Bishop William E. Lori, supreme chaplain, for the Spiritual Pilgrimage with His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI on his Nov. 28-Dec. 1 pastoral visit to Turkey.

Print Version of Prayer (pdf, 82 kb)
Heavenly Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name, we humbly ask that you sustain, inspire, and protect your servant, Pope Benedict XVI, as he goes on pilgrimage to Turkey – a land to which St. Paul brought the Gospel of your Son; a land where once the Mother of your Son, the Seat of Wisdom, dwelt; a land where faith in your Son’s true divinity was definitively professed. Bless our Holy Father, who comes as a messenger of truth and love to all people of faith and good will dwelling in this land so rich in history. In the power of the Holy Spirit, may this visit of the Holy Father bring about deeper ties of understanding, cooperation, and peace among Roman Catholics, the Orthodox, and those who profess Islam. May the prayers and events of these historic days greatly contribute both to greater accord among those who worship you, the living and true God, and also to peace in our world so often torn apart by war and sectarian violence.
We also ask, O Heavenly Father, that you watch over and protect Pope Benedict and entrust him to the loving care of Mary, under the title of Our Lady of Fatima, a title cherished both by Catholics and Muslims. Through her prayers and maternal love, may Pope Benedict be kept safe from all harm as he prays, bears witness to the Gospel, and invites all peoples to a dialogue of faith, reason, and love. We make our prayer through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Subject: [12067] Keep up the Good Work!

Brothers,
As the Capital Campaign for our Church Expansion continues, we must not lose momentum in our efforts to help.

I am pleased with the response that the Knights of our Council have made so far. Of the 6,500 registered families at St. Francis Xavier, only 203 (3%) are Knights. Yet we represent a large number of the campaign volunteers, and of the 220 donors listed in the last bulletin, at least 53 (24%) are Knights. Clearly, our Council leads the parish in response to the campaign and I am proud of that.

If you are a campaign volunteer, I encourage you to continue your efforts. If you have not yet made a pledge, I encourage you to consider contributing to this worthwhile cause.

On behalf of the Council, I would like to express appreciation for your efforts, and I hope we continue to provide a positive example to the parish.

Fraternally,

Bro. Marcel Lemmen

2006 Golf Practice Sessions

I have received several requests from Brother Knights who would like to learn Golf and participate in our Tournament.. Please be warned of the following should you get hooked to this game.
  • You will start mowing your lawn to the standard height used on Golf Course fairways, for practicing your chip shots.
  • You may need to advise your neighbor to park their shiny new BMW in the garage in case of stray balls that might dent his car
  • On rainy days you will have converted the small carpet area of your family room into a putting green practice area.
  • Once you understand the rules and the honor system of this game, you will truly begin to enjoy this game. For all the Dads who want to create Family memories, this is "THE" game for all.

In order to assist brothers to learn the sport of Golf, the 2006 Golf Committee has set up training sessions at Andy Bathgate Golf Centre and The Practice Tee every Tuesday & Thursday evenings Starting Thursday May 11 until Thursday August 10, 2006.
Brothers with golfing experience will be available at the two locations to give you a few tips on getting started. I would request all Brothers who may have spare golf clubs at home to bring them along to help out the new comers.

Golf Centers:

Rosary Apostolate

ROSARY APOSTOLATE IN OUR SCHOOLS.
The Rosary Apostolate was started by a nun - Sr Marilina Cinelli to teach the Rosary in the Schools. Once a month, Rosary Apostolate Volunteers teach each class separately. It has been very successful and we are now in more than 200 schools in Toronto and surrounding areas. This is a very important mission of Our Blessed Mother, especially in these times when there is so much bullying & violence in the schools. Our Spiritual Advisor is Bishop Lacey. Expenses are incurred in purchasing Rosaries for each child and to cover miscellneous costs including printing and regular Police checks for each of the Rosary Volunteer to the Schools.
