A Happy & Holy Christmas!

I would like to extend to all of you, along with Fr. Hansoo and Fr. Steve, best wishes and most especially God’s blessings on this great feast of Christmas. May the Saviour bless you abundantly with serenity, peace and faith in His promises.

We are blessed with a very large community of faith and especially many young people who love and enjoy their faith. As you may have heard me say 50% of our parishioners are 32 years of age or less. This gives us many opportunities and a wonderful vantage point from which to live and proclaim the faith in our daily lives.

In the new year we will be taking an extensive survey in the pews to learn more about the gifts and talents present in the parish and also our needs. With this information we will begin to plan and develop more ministries within the parish and the supports necessary for present and future and activities.

Already, the parish has many people involved. In my first year I have been especially reliant on the efforts, good will and generosity of many people in the parish. My thanks to all of you who are contributing to our common life. We can look forward to an increasingly robust pastoral life together.

I am particularly blessed to have both Fr. Hansoo and Fr. Steve with me here at the parish. Continue to pray for us as we try to discern how best to be of service to the Gospel.

May the joy of the new life proclaimed by Christ’s birth permeate every corner of your lives. Enjoy your celebrations, stay safe and treasure the sacred time spent together.

Christmas is a Holy season when we celebrate the birth of our Lord. As Knights, let’s spread the joy of this occasion beyond our immediate friends and families by remembering those who are less fortunate.

Charity is one of our main precepts, so don’t forget all the food banks that are looking for donations to feed the poor all year round.

THE ST. FRANCIS XAVIER PARISH CHILDRENS CHRISTMAS PARTY.

On Sunday 21st December 2008, St. Francis Xavier Parish had its Christmas Party hosted by the Knights of Columbus council 12067 and the Catholic Womens League. Despite weather conditions the party was a grand success and we had 99% attendance from the children who had signed up. The children had a fantastic time.

The highlight of the evening was the magic show that had children and adults alike glued in awe. He also had his lighter and fun moments with his humor and funny acts.

The music was provided by DJ Ashley and as usual he did a marvelous job.

Bro. Alan Pires and his troupe enthralled the crowd with their carols while the food was being served.

Bro. David kindly consented on being the Santa for the evening and he too did a wonderful job.

A special thanks to the MC of the evening, Mr. Kenneth Dsouza of the shepherd’s trust from the Parish. He kept the party going and did an amazing job.

And finally thanks to the Christmas party committee, without whose efforts this would not have been possible,

NB: The Christmas Party committee worked and budgeted to ensure that whilst keeping in mind that there were no loose ends everybody had a nice time. At the end of it all we are in a position to make a generous donation to the Sick Kids Hospital on behalf of the children from the ST. FRANCIS XAVIER Parish.
